Public Hearing - Proposed Rate Increase AUGUST 20, 2025
The River Pines Public Utility District is proposing adjustments to its water and sewer service rates. These changes are necessary to ensure the continued delivery of safe and reliable services, maintain infrastructure, and comply with regulatory requirements. Increases in power and operational costs have necessitated the need for a rate increase to our systems. Rates have not been adjusted in several years, while costs have increased substantially for the District. As a result, our expenses exceed our revenues. We have also used our reserves to offset operational costs leaving the District without “emergency” funds.
The proposed rates are based on a cost-of-service analysis and are designed to fairly allocate costs among all customers’ classes. A copy of the proposed rates are attached to this notice and are available on the District’s Website: riverpinespud.org and at our office located at 22900 Canyon Avenue.
Proposition 218 Process:
Under California law (Proposition 218), property owners and customers have the right to protest the proposed rate increases. A public hearing will be held on August 20, 2025, at which time the Board will consider all written protests.
How to Protest:
Protests must be submitted in writing and must include:
- The address or parcel number of the property receiving service
- A statement of protest against the proposed rates
- The signature of the property owner or customer of record
Written protests must be received by the close of the public hearing on August 20, 2025. Protests may be mailed to P.O. Box 70 River Pines, CA 95675, or delivered to: 22900 Canyon Avenue River Pines, CA 95675.
If written protests are submitted by a majority of affected parcels, the proposed rate increases will not be adopted.
